Building Bridges

The American Society of Civil Engineers has given United States infrastructure -- roads, bridges, water systems, etc. -- a "D-" grade and warns we may be in for a chatastrophic failure. American Infrastructure Gets Poor Grade [ABCNews.com].

So let me get this straight. America is spending billions repairing and improving infrastructure in Iraq, that we spent untold billions destroying in the first place, and now our own stuff is crumbling. Someone needs to get their priorities straight. Listen up, President Bush!!

If only he cared for his own people..like a true leader would..in this world today all the politicians [well most] dont seem to be the type who care for their country..

The degrading of the US infrastructure is not a recent thing. It's been happening for 30 years. Blaiming President Bush for this is like blaiming a newborn baby for things that happened in his house the last 5 years. It don't wash. The President doesn't spend the money...Congress is the only ones who can do that, and the Democrats controlled both Houses of Congressfor over 40 years. There's plenty of blame to be spread around.
As far at the infrastucture in Iraq...you can't destroy what wasn't there in the first place. Most target we hit were military in nature. Hussein had let the entire country go to pot while he spent al the countrys funds on palaces for him and his sons. Utilities and roads had been largly ignored for the 20+ years he was in charge. If it didn't have to do with keeping him in power it didn't get a second glance.

To J.W. -- Do you know you are missing the point?
The question is - What in the world are we doing there (Iraq) in the first place!!! Whoever said it is correct - Bush is a miserable failure and this country is in one hell of a mess!!!
