Get Into The Groove

Yahoo! Sports - Capitals at home with power-play groove
Hot, cold, hot again. The Caps have been inconsistent all season, especially on the power play. As Joseph White of AP observes:

In their first game together, the Washington Capitals' new power play combo of Jaromir Jagr, Peter Bondra and Robert Lang looked unstoppable, scoring three goals in a victory over Nashville. Instead, the power play turned into a season-long disappointment, enduring stretches of 2-for-50, 2-for-42 and 1-for-25. Bondra, the franchise's career leader in power-play goals, was moved around and even taken off the top unit for a while. Jagr was unhappy that he wasn't getting the 1-on-1 chances on which he thrives.

That's not the stuff to write home about. Tonight at MCI Center, up two games in the series, will set the tone for whether the power play -- and with it, the Capitals' post-season chances -- returns once again.
